Protection order and gun license granted following a tip-off to police: He was wanted with a Red Notice

Just before the wedding, an armed group that formed a convoy with their luxury vehicles and toured the streets of Didim also assaulted a taxi driver they argued with in traffic by drawing weapons on him.

Following the incident, which was recorded by cameras, the taxi driver gave his statement at the police station, while the attackers, some of whom were alleged to be armed, were released.

According to a report by Cengiz Erdinç from Kısa Dalga, Yuhannes Bayram Yaramış, who is wanted with a Red Notice, was granted a protection order and a gun license following a tip-off received by the police.

The tip-off alleged that Ahmet Özcan, nicknamed "Zaza Ahmet," was conspiring with various individuals to assassinate District Police Chief Yunus Dinç and someone named "Bayram," whose license plate was provided but whose surname was not specified. Ahmet Özcan, whose workplace in Didim was forcibly vacated, had gone abroad and, through videos he published from there, raised significant corruption allegations regarding Aydın, claiming that his businesses were seized because he was against drugs.

GUN LICENSE DETAIL

Yaramış, whose connections extend to the Albanian Kompanio Bello cartel, cannot be extradited due to the Red Notice based on an arrest warrant from Belgian courts because he is a Turkish citizen; however, evidence regarding the accusations should be requested from Belgium and he should be tried in Turkey. It is unknown what action has been taken in this regard. It has been impossible for someone with a Red Notice to obtain a gun license, even if they are a Turkish citizen, at least "since the Bataklık (Swamp) investigations."

Responding to questions on the subject, District Police Chief Yunus Dinç stated that he could not answer questions regarding Yaramış being wanted with a Red Notice, the gun license, or the assault on the taxi driver. Aydın Police Chief Mehmet Suat Ekici also did not respond to questions. Interior Ministry sources stated that they would investigate the matter.

236 KILOGRAMS OF COCAINE SEIZED

The Yaramış family, who immigrated to Belgium in 1991, is the largest mafia clan in Antwerp. Their areas of activity include drug trafficking, money laundering, social fraud, extortion, kidnapping, and corruption... Investigative journalists Joris van der Aa and Sam Reyntjens, known for their crime reporting, introduced the Yaramış family to the public in a report published in the Gazette Van Antwerpen in 2019.

The attack on Marsin Yaramış, a "planner" at a container terminal in Antwerp, on August 11, 2017, caught the attention of the police. According to the police, Marsin was receiving 150 thousand euros per cocaine-laden container. It was thought that Marsin was working with Bayram Yaramış but was shot because other relatives also wanted a share of the smuggling.

In the same year, Fikret Yaramış sending a container number to himself as a message was intercepted by police wiretaps, and 236 kilograms of cocaine were seized as a result. Bayram Yaramış fled the investigation in 2017 along with his brother Corc and came to Turkey, and Mecit Yaramış took over the leadership of the family. It is alleged that Mecit Yaramış also settled in Istanbul after an arrest warrant was issued for him.

Among the allegations is that Yuhannes Bayram Yaramış uses the name Bayram Uyanış in Turkey and obtained a gun license through this means.

BELGIAN INVESTIGATION

In investigations completed in Belgium in 2021, the prosecutor charged 105 defendants. Among them are two police officers, a municipal official, two bank employees, a priest, and the family's son-in-law and politician Melikan Kucam. The two police officers are being tried for checking the database to see if there was an arrest warrant for the Yaramış family.

The accusations also include a Turkish-origin official being forced by the Yaramış family to issue fake passports for Albanian drug traffickers Erdi Dizdari, who uses the name Denis Matoshi, and Ermin "Cinco" N.

Eldi Dizdari was the leader of the group forming the Dutch leg of the Kompanio Bello cartel, which built a cocaine bridge between Latin America and Europe. He had kidnapped Bayram's brother Corc due to a failed shipment.

Dizdari was arrested in Dubai in 2020 during the multinational Los Blancos operation conducted by the Florence Prosecutor's Office. Dritan Recebi, considered the leader of the cartel after Dizdari, was also caught in Istanbul. Ermin "Cinco" N. gets his nickname from the Cinco Cavalli nightclub he owns in the city of Durres, Albania, and is a suspect in a 450-kilogram cocaine investigation in Belgium. The Yaramış family was previously talked about due to thousands of bullets fired into the air from heavy weapons at Mecit Yaramış's wedding held in the Cevizağacı village of Beytüşşebap in 2008, and the wedding host Muhsin Yaramış was investigated.
