Protest against Barrack in front of the US Embassy in Ankara

Led by the Kızılcagün Platform, a large group gathered in front of the US Embassy in Ankara to criticize US Ambassador Tom Barrack's statements regarding Turkey's sovereignty and unitary structure. The protest was attended by representatives from political parties, retired military personnel, and numerous citizens, with retired Colonel Orkun Özeller reading the press statement.

In the statement, protesters expressed their opposition to US policy and Ambassador Barrack, arguing that they harm Turkey's independence and integrity. Emphasizing that Barrack made "statements that violate Turkey's sovereign rights and touch upon the honor of the Turkish nation," the statement declared that he is "no longer tolerated" and should be declared "persona non grata."

It was alleged that Barrack has been implementing US colonial policies since taking office, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was criticized for not taking diplomatic action. While reactions were also voiced regarding America's approach to Turkey on various issues, particularly its policies concerning the PKK/PYD, it was stated that the seating arrangements in meetings and the messages conveyed by Barrack were unacceptable.

The press statement noted, "Barrack, who stated that the best state order for Turkey is a 'neo-Ottoman' one, declared that the PKK/PYD are their allies, demanded the reopening of the Halki Seminary, and defined Bartholomew as 'Ecumenical,' targeting the Treaty of Lausanne, is now imposing a 'monarchical republic' model on Turkey. This approach contradicts Atatürk's legacy and the will of the Turkish nation."

The statement also recalled recent military and diplomatic incidents, arguing that America's support for terrorist organizations and the protection of the FETÖ leader are "incompatible with a strategic partnership." It was stated that "The Republic of Turkey has set an example for the whole world with its struggle for independence and will not compromise on its sovereignty."

Finally, while emphasizing that "all political circles must unite against foreign entities trying to interfere with the country's fate by disregarding the national will of the Turkish nation," it was demanded that Barrack "leave the country" as soon as possible. In the remarks conveyed by Orkun Özeller, the words, "From this moment on, we do not want you in our country and we declare you 'persona non grata.' Go home as soon as possible. We invite all political circles, both the government and the opposition, to be sensitive and united on this issue," drew attention.
