Public Prosecutor's Office launches investigation following footage of missile launched from Iran

Following the destruction of a missile launched from Iran in mid-air, it was determined that some content spread on social media platforms was manipulative and misleading in nature.

It was assessed that these posts contained disinformation that could threaten social security.

INVESTIGATION BY PUBLIC PROSECUTOR'S OFFICES

In this regard, it was learned that an ex officio investigation has been launched by the Public Prosecutor's Offices. An examination has been initiated regarding the source and disseminators of the content in question. Within the scope of the investigation, posts that could potentially create fear and panic in society have come to the fore. Security units announced that the legal process has been rapidly initiated to combat disinformation.

MISLEADING POSTS UNDER SCRUTINY

It was assessed that some posts circulating on social media regarding the missile incident do not reflect the facts and could mislead the public. For this reason, a legal process has been initiated regarding the content in question. Authorities stated that this investigation will be conducted to prevent the spread of manipulative content and to ensure accurate information is provided.

IMPORTANT WARNING TO CITIZENS

Security authorities called on citizens to avoid misleading social media posts. It was emphasized that citizens should follow statements from official sources to prevent the spread of disinformation content that could affect public order. Furthermore, it was stated that social media users should refrain from sharing unverified content.
