Public transport fare hike in İzmir

The İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME) met with the agenda of updating the price tariff applied to public transport vehicles.

With the decision taken unanimously, the public transport fare tariff applied in ESHOT, İZULAŞ, İZTAŞIT, İZDENİZ, Metro, Tram, and İZBAN was updated to be effective from Monday, June 24. 

Despite the announced official inflation rate of 74 percent and increases in all other economic indicators, an increase of only 34.62 percent was made in the full tariff. While the full boarding fee with İzmirim Kart rose to 17.5 TL, the teacher boarding fee, which is 11.52 TL, was kept constant. The 60-plus age boarding fee became 15.50 TL, and the student boarding fee became 7.50 TL.

STUDENTS WILL NOT PAY TRANSFER FEES

In the full tariff, a fee of 8.78 TL will be charged for the first transfer made within 120 minutes, and 4.42 TL for the second transfer. Teachers will pay 5.76 TL for the first transfer and 2.88 TL for the second. For 60-plus age cards, 7.76 TL will be charged for the first transfer and 3.88 TL for the second. Students will not pay transfer fees.

50 PERCENT DISCOUNTED 'HALK TAŞIT' APPLICATION CONTINUES

In the “Halk Taşıt” (Public Vehicle) application, which provides 50 percent discounted transportation during certain hours of the day, the full boarding fee became 8.75 TL, teacher 5.76 TL, 60-plus age 7.75 TL, and student boarding 3.75 TL. Those covered by the full tariff will pay 4.39 TL for the first transfer and 2.21 TL for the second transfer within 120 minutes after the first boarding during Halk Taşıt hours. 2.88 TL will be deducted from teacher cards for the first transfer and 1.44 TL for the second. For 60-plus age cards, 3.88 TL will be charged for the first transfer and 1.94 TL for the second. Students will again be exempt from transfer fees.

TARIFF CHANGE IN FERRIES TOO

Vehicle boarding fees on the Bostanlı-Üçkuyular ferries operated by İZDENİZ have also been updated. Motorcycle passage became 45 TL, automobiles 110 TL, mid-class vehicles 260 TL, buses-trucks 560 TL, and semi-trailers 975 TL. Passengers in vehicles will not be charged. When compared to similar businesses in other cities, İZDENİZ will continue to apply the lowest fees per mile.

'SUMMER' ADJUSTMENT TO VOYAGES

On the other hand, Bostanlı - Üçkuyular ferry services between 19.30 and 23.00 on Saturdays and Sundays have been increased due to the density brought by the summer months. The services, which were organized every 30 minutes in the winter season, will be made every 15 minutes between June 15 and September 30.

REGULATION ON 'OWL' SERVICES

The İZDENİZ management also made a regulation on the Owl services operated between Karşıyaka and Alsancak piers on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Wednesday services were terminated due to insufficient usage. Ships operating Owl services will depart from Karşıyaka at 23.45 and 00.45, and from Alsancak at 00.05 and 01.05 on Fridays and Saturdays.
