Public transport fare hikes begin in Istanbul

The fare hikes for public transport, reaching up to 22.19 percent as decided at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME) meeting, have been implemented as of today.

The electronic ticket system in the city and taximeters in taxis have been updated according to the new tariff.

WHAT HAPPENED

In the decision taken at UKOME on July 25, with a 13 percent hike, the full electronic ticket fare was increased from 17.70 TL to 20 TL, the student ticket from 8.64 TL to 9.76 TL, the teacher ticket from 12.67 TL to 14.31 TL, the monthly Blue Card subscription fee from 1389 TL to 1570 TL, and the student subscription fee from 250 TL to 282 TL.

The longest distance fare for metro and metrobus was increased by 13 percent from 24.01 TL to 27.13 TL, and the longest distance fare for Marmaray was raised from 39.18 TL to 44.27 TL.

For taxis, the taximeter opening fee was increased by 22.19 percent from 24.55 TL to 30 TL, the yellow taxi distance fare per kilometer from 17.61 TL to 20 TL, the yellow taxi time tariff fee from 195.63 TL per hour to 235 TL, and the yellow taxi short-distance fare from 90 TL to 100 TL.

In maritime transport, the fare for the Üsküdar-Eminönü route was increased by 13 percent from 22.42 TL to 25.33 TL, Kadıköy-Eminönü from 24.98 TL to 28.23 TL, Kadıköy-Beşiktaş from 24.98 TL to 28.23 TL, and Bostancı-Adalar from 65.85 TL to 74.41 TL.

For minibuses, the shortest distance fare up to 4 kilometers was increased by 16 percent from 15.50 TL to 18 TL, 4-7 kilometers from 16.50 TL to 19 TL, 7-11 kilometers from 18 TL to 20 TL, 11-15 kilometers from 18.50 TL to 21 TL, 15-20 kilometers from 20 TL to 22.5 TL, and the student fare was increased by 20 percent from 10 TL to 12 TL.

For school shuttle services, the 0-1 kilometer distance fee was increased by 16 percent from 1665 TL to 1931.40 TL, and the personnel shuttle service fee for 10-17 seat minibuses was raised from 865.69 TL to 1004.20 TL.
