In today's issue of the Official Gazette dated July 9, a new regulation containing significant changes to the Martyrdom regulation was published. With this regulation, certain articles in the existing regulation, which entered into force based on the Council of Ministers Decision dated January 3, 2016, and numbered 2016/9430, have been updated.
'RESERVE NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICER' DETAIL
Specifically, the term 'reserve non-commissioned officer' (yedek astsubay) was added to the first paragraph of the third article of the regulation, following the phrase 'reserve officer' (yedek subay).
Furthermore, the expression previously stated as 'and (d)' in the same paragraph was revised and rearranged as 'd) and (e)'.
A new clause was also added for military students and candidate students who lost their lives as a result of the situations specified in the second article of Law No. 2780 dated January 11, 1983.
The term 'reserve non-commissioned officer' was also included immediately after the phrase 'reserve officer' in clauses (a), (b), and (c) of the first paragraph of the fourth article of the regulation.
'PRESIDENT' INSTEAD OF 'COUNCIL OF MINISTERS'
Finally, the phrase 'Council of Ministers' in the first paragraph of the sixteenth article was updated by being changed to 'President'. With these changes, the details and definitions regarding the status of martyrdom have been further clarified.
