Quarantined over hantavirus suspicion: Ruhi Çenet announces test results

The hantavirus cases on the MV Hondius, a ship sailing from Argentina to Cabo Verde in West Africa, continue to remain on the agenda. Following the revelation that three people had died on the ship, YouTuber Ruhi Çenet, who was among the passengers, made statements on social media.

It was learned that Çenet, who stated he was traveling for a documentary shoot, was on the ship to create content about Tristan da Cunha, known as one of the most inaccessible settlements in the world. Çenet had stated that he left the ship on the 24th day of the voyage.

HE HAD SAID "I HAD A VERY NARROW ESCAPE"

Ruhi Çenet, who has approximately 18 million followers on YouTube, had previously provided information about his health status in a statement, saying, "Thanks to those who are curious and asking about me, I had a very narrow escape, but my mind is still there. I have had the necessary blood tests done."

HE SHARED THE TEST RESULTS

In his latest statement, Çenet announced that the results of the tests conducted by the Ministry of Health came back negative. Stating that the quarantine process is ongoing, Çenet shared the following information:

"The results of my blood, urine, and saliva tests conducted by the Ministry of Health are negative. The date I attended the wedding was May 2. I first learned about the situation on the ship on May 3, through a WhatsApp message sent to me by a friend who was still on the ship."

"I DID NOT VIOLATE ANY KNOWN RISK"

Emphasizing that he learned about the health crisis on the ship after the wedding, Ruhi Çenet continued his statement with the following remarks:

"In other words, I learned about this risk one day after attending the wedding. I did not violate any known risk, and as soon as I learned about the situation, I initiated the necessary process. I did not board this ship to seek out a health crisis. My goal was to film a documentary about Tristan da Cunha, the most inaccessible island in the world."

Çenet also addressed some comments in the public sphere, saying, "I never made a statement like 'A new pandemic is coming, the world will shut down again.' I only shared the process I experienced on this ship and the flow of information clarified by our Ministry of Health."

WEDDING PHOTOS DREW REACTION

On the other hand, the claim that Ruhi Çenet attended a wedding in Istanbul after returning to Turkey from the ship had sparked debate on social media. Following the photos shared from the wedding, numerous reaction messages were posted on social media.

Making a statement in response to the criticisms, Çenet stated that the hantavirus cases had not yet been announced by the World Health Organization on the date he attended the wedding, adding, "As soon as the information was shared, I quarantined myself just in case. I am not showing any symptoms at the moment."
