Rabies alert! 2 neighborhoods quarantined in Şanlıurfa
A quarantine has been initiated in two neighborhoods in the Eyyübiye district of Şanlıurfa after rabies was detected in two stray dogs.

On June 4, Mustafa Şahin, who was walking on the street in the Batıkent neighborhood of Şanlıurfa's Eyyübiye district, was attacked by a stray dog. Şahin, who was bitten on his arm and leg, was discharged after receiving treatment at Balıklıgöl State Hospital.
Rabies was also detected in a stray dog that attacked 16-year-old Ufuk Kılıç in the rural Payamlı neighborhood on May 30.
A quarantine has been initiated in both neighborhoods by the decision of the governor's office.
In a statement issued by the Şanlıurfa Governor's Office, it was noted that a meeting was held regarding the collection, rehabilitation, and treatment processes of stray animals in the city.
Governor Hasan Şıldak stated that the appearance of rabies cases in the city center poses a major risk and that he has instructed relevant public institutions and all municipalities to "work with a spirit of mobilization regarding the vaccination of stray animals against rabies."
