Rahmi Koç reveals his most successful project

Renowned journalist Ertuğrul Özkök shared details of a meeting he had with Rahmi Koç, one of Turkey's most prominent business figures.

Özkök described what Koç told him when they met at an event.

Rahmi Koç was very stylish as always.

Until the last 5 years, Mr. Koç was known as a cold and distant person.

However, in recent years, I have been seeing him in a relaxed, decontracted mood.

He makes jokes.

Rahmi Koç gave the headline again:

I do so many successful things, but that cap-tossing moment! It has a completely different place.

This mood was also reflected in the speeches he gave at ceremonies.

I had used a remark he made at the opening of the Rahmi Koç Museum two weeks ago as the headline for my article, and it officially went viral.

He had said, “I have worked in jobs that earned money throughout my life, but the final period of my life is spent on three jobs where I don't earn a single penny.”

This remark was so well-received that Koç University Board of Trustees Chairman Nur Yalman also referenced those words in his speech at the ceremony the other evening.

Mr. Rahmi said the following:

“We have very successful businesses. But none of them excite me as much as Koç University. That moment when these students toss their caps into the air at the graduation ceremony, nothing can take its place…”
