Rain disaster in Küçükçekmece: Building evacuated after landslide
Rain that fell in the evening hours in Küçükçekmece caused a landslide. The soil sliding into the foundation of a construction site in Tevfik Bey neighborhood caused tremors in a nearby building. The building was evacuated as a precaution. While residents rushed out in a panic, police and fire crews were dispatched to the scene.

The incident occurred around 23:15 on Bülent Street in the Tevfik Bey neighborhood of Küçükçekmece. According to the information obtained, a landslide occurred between buildings within a residential complex due to the rain that was effective in Istanbul during the evening hours. The soil, which slid toward a construction site where foundation work was ongoing, caused tremors in one of the buildings within the complex. The soil, which demolished the garden wall of the building and slid toward the construction foundation, caused panic among the citizens living in the complex.
Residents of the complex, who evacuated their buildings out of fear from the tremors they felt after the landslide, found themselves on the street. Upon notification, police, municipal police, and fire crews were dispatched to the scene. Residents of the building that experienced the tremors were evacuated from the building as a precaution. While some of the evacuated citizens went to stay with relatives, others went to places allocated to them by the municipality.
One of the building residents, Recep Acar, said, “We were in our home, it rained. A noise came. Everyone went outside. We looked and saw that the retaining wall here was only half-built. They said the municipality gave permission up to this point. We will collect signatures tomorrow. We will do whatever we can. They evacuated the entire B block. Police and municipal officers arrived. They said the municipality would take some, and some would go to their relatives' houses. Everyone is a victim, we will stand behind this. We will collect signatures. We will file a complaint for whatever we can. We heard a noise and went outside. We haven't been able to enter the house since. No one has been able to enter their home so far”.
Police teams have launched an investigation into the incident.
