Rain paralyzes traffic in Istanbul

The heavy rainfall that hit on Saturday brought traffic in Istanbul to a standstill. The IMM Traffic Density Map turned red, and vehicle queues stretched for kilometers.

The heavy rainfall that began in Istanbul on Saturday morning effectively paralyzed the city. The precipitation, which started on the European side, made traffic particularly difficult on main arteries, causing challenging moments for drivers.

IMM TRAFFIC DENSITY MAP TURNED RED

According to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Traffic Density Map, the density rate rose to 83 percent during peak hours. Vehicle queues stretched for kilometers on the D-100 highway, TEM connecting roads, and bridge crossings.

METEOROLOGY WARNS: RAINFALL WILL CONTINUE

In a statement issued by the General Directorate of Meteorology, it was reported that the rainfall would continue intermittently throughout the day.
