Critical hours have begun for the rainy and cool weather that has been expected in Istanbul for days. The system arriving from the Balkans is first making its impact felt with storms and downpours in the Marmara region, and will spread to a wider part of the country over the weekend.

According to forecasts, the precipitation is expected to become more pronounced on Saturday. Rainfall is predicted to be very heavy in some places along the Black Sea coast and heavy in the interior. A noticeable drop in air temperatures is also expected with the arrival of the system.

Temperatures in Istanbul are expected to drop to 23-24 degrees on Saturday, while they are forecast to fall to around 20 degrees in Ankara. Experts point out that this system, arriving in the middle of summer, could pull temperatures down by approximately 10-11 degrees.

The warnings urged measures to be taken against risks of flash floods, water inundation, strong winds, and disruptions in transportation.
