Rainy weather is coming: Temperatures are dropping in Istanbul

A weather system arriving from the Balkans is expected to affect most of the country on Saturday, with temperatures in Istanbul forecast to drop to 23-24 degrees.

Critical hours have begun for the rainy and cool weather that has been expected in Istanbul for days. The system arriving from the Balkans is first making its impact felt with storms and downpours in the Marmara region, and will spread to a wider part of the country over the weekend.

According to forecasts, the precipitation is expected to become more pronounced on Saturday. Rainfall is predicted to be very heavy in some places along the Black Sea coast and heavy in the interior. A noticeable drop in air temperatures is also expected with the arrival of the system.

Meteorological maps showed signs of downpours and thunderstorms in many regions for July 23 and 24.

Temperatures in Istanbul are expected to drop to 23-24 degrees on Saturday, while they are forecast to fall to around 20 degrees in Ankara. Experts point out that this system, arriving in the middle of summer, could pull temperatures down by approximately 10-11 degrees.

The map for Saturday, July 25, shows that the rainy weather will become widespread in the western and interior parts of the country.

SUCCESSIVE WARNINGS FOR ISTANBUL

AKOM and the Istanbul Governor's Office called on citizens to be careful and take precautions, stating that the rainfall could increase in intensity towards the weekend. The warnings urged measures to be taken against risks of flash floods, water inundation, strong winds, and disruptions in transportation.

Due to the severe wind, roofs were blown off, trees were uprooted, and transportation disruptions occurred. It was stated that some citizens were slightly injured and that teams have increased security measures across the city.
