Regarding the visit of Pope Leo XIV, who will come to Turkey to hold a mass at the Council of Nicaea, the Kemalist Thought Association issued the following statement:
"TO THE PRESS AND THE PUBLIC
Pope Leo XIV is coming to İznik tomorrow, accompanied by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, under the pretext of the anniversary of the Council of Nicaea to hold a demonstration and mass, and it is specifically announced that this will be the Pope's first foreign visit.
It is clear that this visit and demonstration are planned to strengthen the 'Ecumenical' claim of the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, Bartholomew, and to violate and open the Treaty of Lausanne to debate.
The Great Atatürk did not permit such a visit and demonstration 100 years ago.
Under these circumstances, the government's permission for this visit and the political establishment's lack of reaction are incomprehensible and unacceptable.
As the Kemalist Thought Association, we invite those who govern our state and those who aspire to govern it to act with the awareness of their reasons for existence and their responsibilities.
Respectfully.
KEMALIST THOUGHT ASSOCIATION HEADQUARTERS"
