İzmir Deputy Hüseyin Kocabıyık showed a harsh reaction to his former party over the figures moving from the CHP to the AKP. Kocabıyık stated, "I wonder, are our fellow Ak Party members not at all bothered by these changes in municipal control that do not follow any rules of sportsmanship? No, they are not! Because they have long since failed the test of rights, law, justice, and character, and have now turned it into shamelessness."

Following operations targeting CHP-run municipalities, some figures resigned from the party and joined the AKP. Among these names were Özlem Vural Gürzel, who was elected as acting mayor to replace the imprisoned Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler, and Aydın Metropolitan Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu.

These transfers have sparked public backlash. Following the operations against CHP municipalities, the resignation of many CHP municipal council members from the party to join the AKP has also caused controversy.

A notable reaction toward the AKP came from the party's former İzmir Deputy Hüseyin Kocabıyık.

Kocabıyık wrote the following on his social media account:

“I wonder, are our fellow Ak Party members not at all bothered by these changes in municipal control that do not follow any rules of sportsmanship? No, they are not! Because they have long since failed the test of rights, law, justice, and character, and have now turned it into shamelessness. I am very curious about what history will write about this group.”
