AKP Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik reacted on his X account to the use of insulting language directed at Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the office of the Sur Municipality in Diyarbakır.

In his post, Çelik stated, "Our stance and position against those who engage in such ugly approaches are clear."

Çelik's post is as follows:

"The ugly approaches of some DEM Party officials toward the founder of our Republic, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who represents the unity of our State and nation, our glorious flag, which is the symbol of our independence, and our National Anthem are absolutely unacceptable.

The political arena is a legitimate space. Those who have received the authority to act within the legitimate space do not use their authority for illegitimate approaches.

Our stance and position against those who engage in such ugly approaches are clear. We will continue to defend the values of our Republic and our democracy and to stand against attacks directed at them."
