More deterrent steps are being taken in the fight against illegal transport. The new legislative proposal submitted to Parliament foresees heavy sanctions for drivers engaged in unauthorized transport. From now on, those who carry passengers without a license will face not only fines but also the risk of losing their driver's licenses.
According to the proposal, the licenses of drivers found to be engaged in illegal transport for the first time "will be confiscated for 6 months." In the event that the same violation is repeated within one year, "the driver's license will be confiscated for 1 year," and they will not have the right to obtain a new license during this period.
The legislative proposal points out that current fines are not sufficiently deterrent, emphasizing that unauthorized transport poses a serious threat to both passenger safety and registered transport operators.
Authorities stated that with the entry into force of the regulation, illegal transport will decrease significantly and passengers will have access to safer travel services.
