Recep Tayyip Erdoğan receives Turkey's first astronaut Alper Gezeravcı
Alper Gezeravcı, who completed Turkey's first manned space mission, was received by President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ankara. Gezeravcı was accompanied by his family during the reception.

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received Alper Gezeravcı, who returned to the country after completing the first manned space mission, and his family.
Gezeravcı was accompanied by his family at the reception, which took place at Esenboğa Airport upon his arrival in Ankara from Istanbul. Gezeravcı presented President Erdoğan with the Turkish flag he carried during his 18 days at the International Space Station (ISS) and the patch inscribed with "Turkey's first manned space mission." Erdoğan, in turn, gifted Gezeravcı a watch.
President Erdoğan's wife, Emine Erdoğan, and Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır were also present at the reception.
