Record fine for driver following road rage incident in Kartal

In the Kartal district of Istanbul, following a traffic dispute, a truck driver persistently followed the other driver, eventually getting out of his vehicle and launching an attack. Footage of the incident spread rapidly among social media users and drew significant backlash.
The Virtual Patrol teams of the Istanbul Police Department's Traffic Inspection Branch took action following the videos shared online. As a result of camera recordings and detailed investigations, the truck driver was identified as T.T. Footage was also obtained showing T.T. getting out of his vehicle and threatening the driver he had argued with.
Due to his behavior endangering traffic and public order, the truck driver was apprehended and taken into custody by the teams. Under the Highway Traffic Law, a total administrative fine of 180 thousand liras was imposed on T.T. Additionally, it was decided that both the truck and the other vehicle involved in the incident would be banned from traffic for 60 days. The driver's license was also suspended for 60 days.
In a statement made by the authorities, it was emphasized that such dangerous behaviors threaten public safety, and it was stated that inspections would be increased to prevent similar incidents. Drivers were once again warned to comply with traffic rules.
