Reed bed fire in Hatay extinguished with rapid intervention

A fire broke out in a reed bed area in the Pirinçlik neighborhood of Arsuz district. Upon notification by citizens to the 112 Emergency Call Center, Regional Forestry Directorate and Hatay Metropolitan Municipality fire department teams were dispatched to the scene. With the intervention of the teams, the fire was brought under control before it could spread to the forested area. Ahmet Keskin, Head of the Fire Department of Hatay Metropolitan Municipality, arrived at the fire zone to monitor the efforts on-site.

Stating that the fire in the reed bed area has been brought under control, Keskin said, "A fire broke out in a reed bed area in the Pirinçlik neighborhood of Arsuz district in the evening hours. Upon the report from citizens, our fire crews intervened in the fire. Our fire crews from other districts and our General Directorate of Forestry teams also came to provide support. With the intervention of the teams, the fire was brought under control. There is no loss of life or property. The fire was brought under control before it could spread to the forest and houses."
