The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is continuing its investigation into the incident on October 6, 2025, in Şişli, where lawyer Serdar Öktem lost his life as a result of an armed attack. In the initial phase, a total of 6 suspects were apprehended, including 5 individuals identified as having carried out the attack and 1 person who assisted in their escape.

NEW DETENTIONS CARRIED OUT

As a result of the work carried out within the scope of the investigation, 7 more people, 2 of whom were under the age of 18, were detained after being identified as having connections to the suspects. Thus, the total number of detainees rose to 13. The suspects, whose procedures at the police station were completed, were referred to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan. Following their statements at the prosecutor's office, 9 of the suspects, including 2 under the age of 18, were arrested, while 4 were released under judicial control conditions.

REFERRAL DOCUMENT REVEALED

In the referral document prepared by the prosecutor's office conducting the investigation, it was stated: "It has been assessed that the murder of Serdar Öktem was carried out by the Gündoğmuşlar and Daltonlar criminal organizations, which are financed by Naci Yılmaz, nicknamed 'Siirtli Naci', and which ensure the continuity of the organizations through the provision of weapons and narcotics, with the motive of revenge and weakening, in order to damage the 'Casperlar', 'Çirkinler', 'Şirinler', and 'Çingene Ümit' criminal organizations both legally and financially, and to cut off their flow of information."

CONNECTION OF THE MURDER TO PAST OPERATIONS

The referral document also stated: "In the statements of suspect Haydar Koç and S.Ç.Y., who is under 18, who were apprehended and detained in the murder of Eren Öztek, an employee at a hotel operating in Bakırköy on May 12, 2025, within the scope of operations against the Daltonlar Criminal Organization, they declared that they were preparing for an action against a person they knew as a prosecutor under the instructions of Organization Manager Caner Kocar; upon this, it was understood that the target person was not a prosecutor but lawyer Serdar Öktem, and correspondence was made to take all necessary measures for the safety of the individual's life."

MULTIPLE ASSASSINATION PLANS

According to the suspects' statements, information was also included in the referral document that they had planned to attempt an attack on Serdar Öktem multiple times at different periods, but returned without carrying out the actions due to the security measures taken around his home and workplace.

CRIMINAL ORGANIZATIONS' PREPARATION FOR ACTION

In the document, it was stated that Criminal Organization Managers Murat Küçükyavuz, Mustafa Aktürk, Ali Gulmalızada, and organization member Furkan Kalıma and other members were preparing for an action against Serdar Öktem, and that they declared they were directed by Daltonlar Criminal Organization managers Mustafa Aktürk and Ali Gulmalızada during this process.

RECONNAISSANCE AND PREPARATION PROCESS

The document also included the following information: "It was reported that the organization members, who came to Istanbul from Gaziantep 10 days before the action, whose participation in the criminal organization was ensured by Sidar Öz and Semih Aydın, who are members of the Gündoğmuşlar Criminal Organization, and Ali Gulmalizada, were placed in a safe house in Esenyurt, and that in the period leading up to the date of the incident, the organization members who left the safe house to carry out an action against Serdar Öktem went to the location of the victim's home and workplace several times for reconnaissance and preparation for the action, but failed each time."

DETAILS OF THE DAY OF THE ATTACK

In the referral document regarding the attack that took place on October 6, it was stated that the suspects got out of the vehicle and showered the car Serdar Öktem was in with bullets, then fled the scene and headed in the direction of Arnavutköy. It was also stated that the weapons, masks, and gloves used in the action were later hidden under a tree.

INVESTIGATION CONTINUES

In the prosecutor's document, it was emphasized that it is assessed that the organized crime groups carried out this action due to their hostility towards Serdar Öktem. It was also noted that the Organized Crime Investigation Bureau continues its efforts to capture the instigators and determine whether the criminal organizations played a role as subcontractors in the incident.
