As part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the CHP-run Şile Municipality on charges of "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes," "extortion," "bribery," and "rigging bids," Mayor Özgür Kabadayı and 5 others had been detained.
Kabadayı, who was referred to the duty magistrate judge with a request for his arrest, was remanded in custody along with Oğuz Kaçmaz, Tuncay Tolga Özçakmak, Ali Şafak, and Evren Buçhan.
