A decision has been made to release 8 of the 9 individuals arrested during an investigation into allegations of "interference with the will of the delegates" at the CHP congress.
Nine people were arrested in the investigation into allegations that "the voting will of the delegates was interfered with" at the 38th Ordinary Congress of the CHP, where Özgür Özel was elected chairman.
The release decision was granted for Safi Karayalçın, Suat Dülger, Kalender Özdemir, Özkan Deniz, İbrahim Şahin, Umut Sapan, Metin Kaya, and Mehmet Ayıp Demirbüken.
Gaffar Çiçek, the driver of Veli Ağbaba, remains the only person in custody in the case.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Within the scope of the investigation conducted regarding the CHP's 38th Congress, 13 people were detained last May on allegations of "violating the Law on Political Parties," "bribery," and "laundering assets derived from crime." On May 23, Safi Karayalçın, Suat Dülger, Kalender Özdemir, Özkan Deniz, İbrahim Şahin, Umut Sapan, Metin Kaya, Gaffar Çiçek, and Mehmet Ayıp Demirbülen were referred to the courthouse and arrested. Ayça Aypek Şenay, Gülhan Aydın, Melda Tanışman Tutan, and Hayati Kaya were released under judicial control conditions.
