Great Unity Party (BBP) Chairman Mustafa Destici has been discharged from Tokat State Hospital, where he was transferred following a traffic accident. Speaking to reporters after his discharge, Destici stated that the weather conditions were not suitable for local elections.
In his statement, Destici said the following:
"Yesterday morning, after our meeting in Sivas, we set off for our program in Reşadiye, Tokat. After passing Niksar, there was, of course, precipitation. However, 3-5 other accidents had already occurred on the same road before us. According to the information provided by our friends, oil or fuel residue left on the road after those accidents caused us to have an accident. Suddenly, our car went out of control to the right. After swerving left and right, our driver steered to the right, and we fell into a ditch or channel. Then, the car came out of the channel, tipped over on its side, and stopped after hitting a retaining wall. It stopped on the side where we were. There were our driver, our chief of staff, our head of security, myself, one of our deputy chairmen, and our Tokat Provincial Chairman in the car. Of course, we immediately went to Reşadiye State Hospital. There, thank you to them, all our doctors showed extraordinary effort and care. Then we were transferred here. Here, too, our esteemed Governor Numan Hatipoğlu, our entire hospital team, our doctors, and our specialists all showed incredible care."
WE ALSO LOST OUR CHAIRMAN MUHSİN ON MARCH 25
Providing information about his health status, Destici noted that the election period falling in the winter months could create negative circumstances. Destici used the following sentences:
"I needed to remain under observation yesterday because there were some scratches in the head area. A crack occurred in my kneecap. They were treated, but they advised us to rest for a few days. May God never let anyone experience such an accident again. I also want to say this: You know our late, martyred Chairman Muhsin. We lost him on March 25. In these weather conditions, local elections should actually not be held. I think it would be more appropriate to hold them, if possible, towards the end of May, the beginning of June, or the beginning of autumn. This is not something I am saying just based on the accident we had. Both our parties and candidates participating in the election face great difficulties, and when winter conditions are added, the process becomes even more difficult, and of course, accidents appear as a somewhat inevitable end," he said.
Following his statement, Destici departed for Ankara by road.
