Ahead of the anniversary of the FETÖ coup attempt, the Ministry of Interior sent a comprehensive circular to the governorates of 81 provinces, making new emphases regarding the importance of July 15.
According to the report by Fatih Ergin from Yeniçağ, the letter bearing the signature of Minister Mustafa Çiftçi stated, "The unique unity shown by the Turkish nation by shielding their chests against tanks, planes, and weapons was not limited to the prevention of a coup attempt; it carried the integration of state and nation to its peak and has been etched into world democratic history as a founding and unshakable turning point."
In this circular, it was stated that July 15 is not only a day of resistance but also holds a special place in Turkey's democratic history. Governorates were requested to organize commemoration events in line with this emphasis.
A similar approach has also come from Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin in recent days.
Tekin stated in a recent announcement that the term "National Struggle" would be used instead of "War of Independence" from now on. Furthermore, Tekin's remarks, "This unique solidarity of the Turkish nation, which shielded its chest against tanks, planes, and weapons, did not remain merely as the repelling of a coup attempt; it fortified the integration of state and nation at the highest level and has been etched into world democratic history as a founding and unshakable turning point," became a subject of debate in society.
