Remarkable message from İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu regarding Akşener

Müsavat Dervişoğlu, who was elected Chairman at the 5th Extraordinary Congress of the İYİ Party, stated in a post on his X (Twitter) account: "We will carry the flag we have taken over from our Founding Chairwoman, Ms. Meral Akşener, toward power together. The İYİ Party has left its 5th Extraordinary Congress behind.

In the congress where Meral Akşener announced she would not be a candidate again, Müsavat Dervişoğlu, Koray Aydın, Mehmet Tolga Akalın, and Günay Kodaz competed for the chairmanship. In the third round, Müsavat Dervişoğlu received 611 votes, surpassing his rival Koray Aydın, who received 548 votes, and became the new chairman of the İYİ Party.

Thanking his rivals Koray Aydın and Mehmet Tolga Akalın, the new Chairman Dervişoğlu stated in a post on his X account: "We will carry the flag we have taken over from our Founding Chairwoman, Ms. Meral Akşener, toward power together. You wish for fate to change! You wish for history to change!"

The full text of Dervişoğlu's post is as follows;

"Today, we held a congress that we will remember with pride for the political morality, sagacity, and understanding of democracy of the movement of the good and the brave. I am grateful to every member of our İYİ Party family who deemed me worthy of the chairmanship at our 5th Extraordinary Congress... I heartfully thank my fellow party members, Mr. Koray Aydın and Mr. Mehmet Tolga Akalın, with whom we conducted the congress process in a spirit of brotherhood for the strong future of our party. We will carry the flag we have taken over from our Founding Chairwoman, Ms. Meral Akşener, toward power together. You wish for fate to change! You wish for history to change!"
