Sırrı Süreyya Önder, who suffered a heart attack followed by an aortic dissection, had been taken to the hospital and placed in intensive care. Önder, who underwent two surgeries, passed away at 16:10 due to multiple organ failure after an 18-day intensive care process.

While the news of Önder's passing caused a wide stir in the political world, the post made by IYI Party Deputy Chairman Mehmet Aslan on social media drew attention.

Aslan stated, 'May God forgive his sins, God took his life exactly on the day of Turkism.'
