An arrest warrant has been issued for CHP Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat, who was detained as part of a 'tender corruption investigation' launched in Istanbul.

A statement regarding the decision on Akpolat came from the MHP. Stating that the decision must be substantiated, MHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız noted the following:

"Along with CHP Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat, 23 suspects, including Aziz İhsan Aktaş, Deputy Mayor Alican Abacı, and Beşiktaş Municipality BELTAŞ AŞ Chairman Önder Gedik, were arrested, while 17 suspects were released under judicial control conditions.

Arrest is the restriction of a suspect or defendant's liberty as a measure to protect evidence, ensure the integrity of the trial process, and reveal the material truth beyond any doubt. The primary condition for arrest is the existence of “concrete evidence showing the presence of strong suspicion of a crime” regarding the suspect or defendant, and it must be proportionate.

Courts must substantiate the decisions they make with the justifications they provide, both legally and materially. Justification aims to satisfy reason, logic, and conscience. It is the justification that humanizes, makes independent, and renders a verdict respectable."
