Reporter who covered 'Umbrella for the governor, none for veterans' story detained

An incident that took place during the wreath-laying ceremony held in front of the 100th Year Public Library in Iğdır as part of the September 19 Veterans Day has returned to the agenda with a new development.

During the rain that was effective on the day of the ceremony, it was noted that Iğdır Governor Ercan Turan entered the ceremony area with an umbrella. In contrast, Martyrs' Families Solidarity and Assistance Association President Ahmet Akdeniz, Turkey War Disabled, Martyrs' Widows and Orphans Association President Orhan Severli, and the veterans attending the ceremony were left in the rain.

When it was noticed that members of the press were recording these moments, the umbrellas in the area were collected, which drew attention, and the incident quickly caused a great stir on social media. The footage, shared with the headline 'Umbrella for the governor, none for veterans,' drew public backlash.

Following these events, a new development occurred. It was learned that İhlas News Agency (İHA) reporter Sebahattin Yum, who produced the story in question, was detained.

The statement published by İHA included the following:
