Requested sentence for suspects who killed Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi has been determined

An indictment has been filed seeking aggravated imprisonment for the 2 suspects who intentionally killed Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, the son of Italian Chef Andrea Minguzzi, who lost his life in a knife attack in Kadıköy.

The prosecution has requested life imprisonment for the attackers for the crime of "intentional killing of a child."

The indictment also included the statements of the victim's friends who were present on the day of the incident, taken in the capacity of witnesses. It was noted that witness D.A.D. stated that they had gone to the market as a group of friends on the day of the incident, that a child they knew from before had made a remark to them calling them a "bicycle gang," that the victim had replied to the person saying "it's not a bicycle, it's a skateboard," that a verbal argument broke out between them, that shopkeepers had separated them, and that afterwards, as they were about to leave the market, the suspects returned and one of them started attacking the victim, followed by the other stabbing him 3-4 times.

THEY USED A 'PROVOCATION DEFENSE'

The statements of suspects U.B. and B.B. were also written in the indictment. It was stated that while suspect U.B. said in his statement that he saw the other suspect, B.B., stab the victim 5-6 times, suspect B.B. claimed he was under provocation, that the victim had insulted his mother and sister, that he stabbed him because he was provoked, and that they fled out of fear.

CAMERA FOOTAGE EXAMINED

According to the autopsy report obtained from the Council of Forensic Medicine, it was emphasized that there were 3 sharp object wounds on the victim's body, a penetrating wound in his chest, and that the cause of death was internal organ damage due to the sharp object injury. Furthermore, it was stated that the suspects were clearly identified in the examined camera footage.

UP TO 24 YEARS OF IMPRISONMENT REQUESTED

The prosecution noted that the suspects first had a verbal argument with the victim at the scene, threatened him with words like "I'll gut you," and then attacked him with kicks and punches, and that while suspect U.B. was kicking, B.B. stabbed the victim multiple times with a knife he took from a stall, and requested that the suspects B.B. and U.B., who are under 18, be sentenced to up to 24 years in prison for the crime of "intentional killing of a child."

HOW WAS MATTIA AHMET MINGUZZI KILLED?

On January 24, 2025, Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi went to the Historical Tuesday Market in Hasanpaşa Neighborhood with his friends to buy skateboard equipment and clothes at the flea market.

While they were shopping, an individual made a remark saying, 'You are very handsome.' Mattia replied, 'Excuse me, brother.' Following this, a verbal argument broke out between them. A fight broke out between the parties who encountered each other again a while later. Suspect B.B. (15), who was separated by the intervention of nearby shopkeepers, ran back and attacked Mattia with a knife.

The young man, who collapsed to the ground with knife wounds, was seriously injured. The other attacker, U.B. (16), kicked the child as he lay on the ground covered in blood. While the attackers fled the scene, those moments were captured on security cameras. The suspects B.B. and U.B., who were caught after the incident, were arrested and sent to prison.
