Requested sentence for Tanju Özcan revealed: Here is the prison sentence sought
An indictment has been prepared against 19 people, 7 of whom are in custody, including Tanju Özcan, who was suspended from his post as Mayor, as part of an "extortion" investigation into the Bolu Municipality.

In the 178-page indictment prepared by the Bolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, in which the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, the General Directorate of Foundations, and the Ministry of Interior are listed as complainant institutions, 41 victims and 19 people, 7 of whom are in custody, are listed as suspects.
The indictment, which requests that the detained Özcan be punished for the crimes of "extortion by coercion and attempted extortion," "qualified fraud," "bribery," and "violation of the Law on Foundations and Associations No. 5072," and that the other 18 people be punished for various crimes, has been sent to the Bolu 3rd High Criminal Court.
It was noted in the indictment that Özcan denied all accusations and stated that he did not exert pressure or demand any benefits.
UP TO 263 YEARS OF IMPRISONMENT SOUGHT FOR ÖZCAN
In the indictment, it was requested that Tanju Özcan be sentenced to a total of 90 years and 3 months to 263 years and 6 months in prison for his actions against each 'victim', for 6 counts of "extortion by coercion," 3 counts of "attempted extortion," 34 counts of "qualified fraud," and 1 count of "bribery."
It was requested that the detained Deputy Mayor Süleyman Can be sentenced to a total of 27 years and 6 months to 64 years in prison for 5 counts of "extortion by coercion" and 2 counts of "attempted extortion," and that BolSev Foundation Board Chairman Ali Sarıyıldız be sentenced to a total of 72 years, 7 months, and 15 days to 218 years and 9 months in prison for 6 counts of "aiding and abetting extortion," 3 counts of "attempted aiding and abetting extortion," and 34 counts of "qualified fraud."
The indictment also requested varying prison sentences for the other suspects for these crimes.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Within the scope of the "extortion" investigation launched by the Bolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the Bolu Municipality on February 28, 19 people were taken into custody on different dates.
Among those taken into custody, Mayor Tanju Özcan, deputy mayors Süleyman Can and Leyla Beykoz, Municipal Council members Cihan Tutal and Aydan Özdemir, Bolu Municipality Financial Services Manager Ayhan, and BolSev Board Chairman Sarıyıldız were arrested.
As part of the investigation, searches were conducted at the Bolu Municipality, as well as at the homes, workplaces, and vehicles of the suspects, and phones and some documents and materials were seized.
