Turkish Football Federation (TFF) officials who were serving in the federation's governing bodies have resigned.
TFF Ethics Committee Chairman and Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor of the Court of Cassation Rıdvan Gündoğdu was among those who resigned.
In an interview, TFF President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu had claimed that Court of Cassation President Ömer Kerkez did not grant permission to Rıdvan Gündoğdu, who had been appointed as the TFF Ethics Committee Chairman. Following this statement, resignations at the TFF came one after another.
WHAT DID HACIOSMANOĞLU SAY?
“We have an Ethics Committee Chairman; I don't know him, I spoke to him on the phone twice. He is the Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor of the Court of Cassation. This is in the traditions. Our Court of Cassation President says, 'You cannot participate.' I called, he didn't call back. We want to manage Turkish football fairly and justly. According to traditions, there are those who take part in TFF boards from these institutions. I was not elected in 50-60 rounds like you. It started at 10 and finished at 7 in the evening. I am curious about the answer as to why you do not allow our Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor. We did not appoint him because he is someone's man; we set out to manage Turkish football with merit and fairness. We will put those who oppose this before the public. Those who oppose justice are not one of us.”
