Resignation in İYİ Party over 'Turkey without terrorism' vision
İYİ Party Mardin Provincial Chair Süleyman Akar announced that he and the district administrations of Artuklu, Dargeçit, Midyat, Savur, Mazıdağı, Nusaybin, and Yeşilli have collectively resigned from the party. In a statement to the press and the public, it was stated that this decision was taken not for political reasons, but out of a sense of conscience and historical responsibility.

In his statement, Akar noted that they took this step to contribute to the establishment of an environment of social peace and brotherhood within the current political atmosphere in Turkey. He emphasized that they particularly value the support shown by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, and DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan for the recent "national unity and brotherhood" call made by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Reminding that Mardin has been a city living in peace for centuries with its ethnic and religious diversity, Akar stated, "No individual's blood should be shed on these lands anymore; no child should be left without a mother, and no mother should be left without a child. For this, positions, titles, and duties can be sacrificed; as long as lasting peace, justice, and tranquility prevail in Turkey."
The statement pointed out that Turks and Kurds fought shoulder to shoulder during the founding of the Republic, emphasizing that this historical unity should be revitalized through a "Turkey without terrorism" process.
"İYİ PARTY DID NOT MEET EXPECTATIONS"
Criticizing the İYİ Party for not contributing to important processes such as the National Unity and Solidarity Commission established in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), Akar stated that this stance contradicts the demands of the people. Akar said, "The İYİ Party's attitude toward the peace process forced us to take this decision in order to fulfill our responsibility to our people."
Akar also expressed that Meral Akşener's past call to "end the fight between two brothers" had found a positive echo among the public, but that this rhetoric was not reflected in party policies.
Süleyman Akar and the district organizations announced that they will continue their struggle for peace, justice, and brotherhood independently, rather than under the umbrella of any political party in the future.
At the end of his statement, Akar wished success to all parties and deputies serving in the National Unity and Solidarity Commission, adding, "We believe that every difficulty can be overcome with the prayers and support of our nation."
