Journalist Nuray Başaran recently claimed on the Taksim Meydanı program broadcast on TGRT Haber that the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) subsidiary Medya A.Ş. had purchased mobile phones for certain journalists during the CHP convention.

In her live broadcast, Başaran stated, “The money transferred from Medya A.Ş. has been reported, detailing who it was transferred to. Journalists were identified one by one. It is alleged that payments were made to these journalists. It has been determined that 1200 phones were purchased for the convention. The invoices for the mobile phones were paid by Medya A.Ş.”

Murat Ongun, Chairman of the Board of Directors of İBB Medya A.Ş. and advisor to İBB Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, responded to the allegations made against him.

MURAT ONGUN: I CHALLENGE YOU

Speaking to Nefes Gazetesi columnist Aytunç Erkin, Ongun said, "Regardless of which political side they are on, I neither accept nor approve of such an accusation being directed at any journalist."

Stating, “I say ‘I challenge you’ to everyone on that program,” Ongun issued an ultimatum, saying, “Since you have the invoice in your hand, publish it, and I will immediately resign from all my positions and apologize to you. Honorable people should do this. Both I and they. I challenge you. We are waiting for the invoice.”
