Imam Halil Konakcı, who frequently makes headlines with his statements targeting the Republic and secularism, targeted Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ during a 'conference,' saying, "To be Turkish means to be Muslim. Ümit Özdağ responded to Konakcı's remarks via X. Using the phrase "a provocateur posing as an imam," Özdağ stated the following:
