Restrictions imposed on heavy vehicle traffic
To reduce potential traffic congestion during the holiday, heavy-tonnage vehicles are temporarily prohibited from traveling from Tekirdağ toward Istanbul.

With only hours remaining until the Ramadan Feast holiday, the Ministry of Interior has implemented new measures to ensure traffic flow and prevent congestion. Within this scope, the passage of trucks, tractor-trailers, and tankers moving from Tekirdağ toward Istanbul has been halted by the decision. The measure will remain in effect until 01:00 tomorrow.
Across Tekirdağ, a total of 94 traffic teams and 445 police officers are on duty, continuing their inspections without interruption to ensure the measure is strictly enforced.
SPECIAL EXEMPTIONS GRANTED FOR CERTAIN SHIPMENTS
The restriction includes certain exceptions to ensure that supply chains and essential needs are not disrupted. Vehicles transporting perishable food products—such as fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, dairy products, frozen foods, live animals, and cut flowers—as well as pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, packaged water products, mail and periodicals, animal feed, and fuel, have been granted road access under specific conditions.
While these types of vehicles are primarily requested to use alternative routes outside of main arteries, they are permitted to use main roads in mandatory situations only for the shortest possible time and in a controlled manner.
The decision, taken to reduce the density expected on roads returning to Istanbul with the start of the holiday, is expected to increase traffic safety.
