Retired colonel files criminal complaint against MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli: 'I exercised my democratic right'

Retired Colonel Orkun Özeller has filed a criminal complaint against MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli over his remarks referring to Öcalan as a 'founding leader'.

MHP Chairman Bahçeli, who initiated a new reconciliation process with his call to PKK terrorist organization leader Öcalan during his parliamentary group meeting, had made numerous posts and statements regarding the process following his initial remarks.

In a subsequent statement, Devlet Bahçeli used the term 'founding leader' for PKK terrorist organization leader Öcalan, drawing backlash from certain segments of society. This expression used by Bahçeli led to a criminal complaint being filed against him.

"IT MAKES THE ORGANIZATION SYMPATHETIC"

Retired Colonel Orkun Özeller filed a criminal complaint against MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli for using the term 'founding leader' in reference to PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Retired Colonel Orkun Özeller stated, "The remarks made by Bahçeli regarding Öcalan as a 'founding leader' make the organization appear sympathetic."

Özeller, who submitted his application to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, said, "Because Mr. Devlet Bahçeli pointed to a democratic Turkey for the process he initiated, I also exercised my democratic right and filed a criminal complaint against Devlet Bahçeli for the words he spoke. We must respect the decision that the fair Turkish judiciary will make."
