RTÜK has recently increased its penalties against opposition channels. During this period, Sözcü TV became the channel subjected to the most sanctions, receiving 13 administrative fines, 13 program suspension orders, and a 10-day broadcast suspension.

According to a report by Deniz Ayhan from Sözcü, RTÜK member Tuncay Keser criticized the situation, stating, "RTÜK's scales of justice have gone awry. These penalties are laying the groundwork for license revocations. Blacked-out screens are obstructing democracy and the public's right to receive information."

TRT HABER'S RATINGS DECLINE

The news channel of the state broadcaster TRT is experiencing a decline in ratings.

While Sözcü TV and Halk TV stand out among Turkey's most-watched news channels, TRT Haber has fallen to 4th place in the Total, AB Group, and 20+ABC1 categories. Despite its annual budget of 10 billion TL, TRT is failing to show the expected performance in news broadcasting.
