RTÜK imposes 10-day broadcast suspension on Sözcü TV

The stay of execution for the 10-day broadcast suspension imposed on SÖZCÜ TV by RTÜK has been lifted.

The Ankara 7th Administrative Court has lifted the stay of execution regarding the 10-day broadcast suspension given to SÖZCÜ TV.

SÖZCÜ TV will go off-air starting from midnight on Tuesday, July 8.

WHAT HAPPENED?

RTÜK had imposed a 10-day broadcast suspension on SÖZCÜ TV on March 27, citing the channel's coverage of protests that began following the detention and arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.

The Ankara 25th Administrative Court had previously issued a stay of execution regarding the 10-day broadcast suspension imposed on SÖZCÜ TV.
