RTÜK imposes fines on 3 television channels and 2 radio stations
The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) convened to evaluate complaints and investigations regarding broadcasting violations. During the meeting chaired by RTÜK President Mehmet Daniş, it was decided to impose administrative fines on 3 television channels and 2 radio stations for various violations.

According to the statement from RTÜK, the council addressed remarks made by CHP Deputy Chairman Suat Özçağdaş regarding the political government during a program aired on a television channel, where he stated, "It has lost its legitimacy and is trying to find its legitimacy in America. It is handing over the country's mines."
Özçağdaş's statements in the same program, "The current Minister of National Education, together with the Cihannüma clique that has seized the Ministry of National Education with him, was trying to drag the country toward a completely different place," were also evaluated by the council.
The Supreme Council imposed an administrative fine on the channel for violating Article 8/1-(ç) of Law No. 6112, on the grounds that these remarks constituted baseless accusations, created suspicion and doubt, cast aspersions on individuals and institutions, and exceeded the limits of criticism.
"REFLECTION OF OUR VANDAL CULTURE" REMARK
Another broadcast addressed at the meeting was a documentary regarding the Ani Ruins. The remarks in the documentary, "Yes, now let's go in and see those magnificent churches, cathedrals, and the mosques that were added later lying inside the Ani Ruins. I say mosques because after Alparslan captured this city in 1065, he converted most of the churches into mosques and also built new mosques. Unfortunately, this is a reflection of our vandal culture," were evaluated by RTÜK.
The council concluded that these words were contrary to national and spiritual values and decided to impose an administrative fine on the channel for violating Article 8/1-(f) of Law No. 6112.
'THE DEVIL'S ADVOCATE' FILM DISCUSSED
RTÜK also discussed the broadcast of scenes containing obscene content in the movie "The Devil's Advocate," which was aired on another television channel.
The council ruled that the broadcasted images violated Article 8/1-(n) of Law No. 6112, which includes the provision that "Broadcasts cannot be obscene," and imposed an administrative fine on the channel.
SANCTIONS ON RADIO STATIONS
During the meeting, two radio stations were also subjected to sanctions. One radio station was fined for broadcasting content that encourages drug use, while the other was fined for broadcasting content that serves unfair interests.
