RTÜK has launched an investigation into remarks made about Sultan Abdulhamid II during a program broadcast on KRT TV.
RTÜK Chairman Ebubekir Şahin stated in a post on his social media account, "The justified public sensitivity regarding the expressions used about Sultan Abdulhamid II in a program broadcast on KRT is being closely monitored by us. An investigation has been initiated by our Supreme Council regarding the matter, and it is impossible for us to accept insults directed at our ancestors. Respectfully announced to the public."
WHAT HAPPENED?
During his program on KRT TV, Enver Aysever responded to Abdulhamid Kayıhan Osmanoğlu's claim that his grandfather, Abdulhamid II, was "the true owner of the Çanakkale victory" by saying, "Abdulhamid was a coward. If it weren't for Mustafa Kemal, you would all be walking around like monkeys now."
INVESTIGATION AFTER THE VISIT
Following the controversy, Abdulhamid Kayıhan Osmanoğlu visited RTÜK Chairman Ebubekir Şahin. On the same day, Osmanoğlu announced that "legal proceedings have been initiated" against Enver Aysever.
