Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) Chairman Ebubekir Şahin has issued a warning to television stations to exercise caution regarding "counter-terrorism."
Stating that information brought to the screen under the guise of 'analysis' in talk shows could hinder counter-terrorism efforts, Şahin made the following remarks:
“We have lost heroic soldiers as martyrs in the latest attacks by the treacherous terrorist organization PKK. May our nation be comforted. As a country, we have no doubt that our fight against terrorism will continue until not a single terrorist remains to threaten our beloved nation. However, unfortunately, some information that could weaken our counter-terrorism efforts is being brought to the screen under the name of 'analysis' in talk shows or news programs. We strongly warn our media organizations to show the necessary care in their broadcasts on this subject and to broadcast in line with this principle. No broadcaster can or would want to disrupt the struggle our heroes are putting up in the field with all their might. On this occasion, we once again wish God's mercy upon our heroic martyrs and offer our condolences to their grieving families and our nation.”
