RTÜK President Ebubekir Şahin made a statement regarding the 8-year-old Narin Güran murder case, which concluded today. Şahin said, "Turkish justice has given the criminals who took the life of our daughter Narin the punishment they deserve.
Although our hearts are heavy and we are grieving, we find comfort in knowing that we live in a state governed by the rule of law. As RTÜK, we have monitored the broadcasts in question with a sensitive balance from the very first moment of this tragic event and made the necessary interventions," he said.
Noting that the media failed the test in the initial stages of the investigation, Şahin stated that with their warnings, the media informed the public in a sensitive and mature manner today, adding, "While thanking our judicial members who worked intensively and our journalist friends, we hope as a country that we will no longer experience such painful events. Rest in peace, Narin. May your place be in heaven," he expressed.
