Saadet Party Aydın Provincial Chair Fatih Karahan was summoned to testify due to a social media post in which he criticized former Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu's remarks regarding PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan. Making a statement after his testimony, Karahan said, "Whoever praises a terrorist organization, praises the terrorist organization's ringleader Abdullah Öcalan, or portrays him as a peace envoy, even if it were my own father, is guilty, a traitor, a traitor to the homeland, and a terrorist."

According to the report in T24, Karahan made the following remarks after his testimony at the Police Department:

"We gave our statement at the Provincial Police Department. They summoned us to testify because of a post we made on social media. If you ask what that post was, it is this: it is a post where I expressed my discomfort regarding former Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu praising the PKK terrorist organization leader and child murderer Abdullah Öcalan at the Anatolian Broadcasters Federation, portraying him as a peace envoy. In that post, I used the words 'former minister of criminal affairs.' The prosecutor's office requested my statement because of this. I made the post myself. I already stated this in my testimony. Whoever praises a terrorist organization, praises the terrorist organization's ringleader Abdullah Öcalan, or portrays him as a peace envoy, even if it were my own father, is guilty, a traitor, a traitor to the homeland, and a terrorist. Let them know well that I am an opposition party provincial chair. Even if I were just a private citizen, we would never give up on the cause we believe in. We will never sell out our homeland and our nation, and they cannot make us bow down in any way. We only bow before Almighty Allah; we bow in prayer, we prostrate in prayer."
