Artist Sabahat Akkiraz, who served as a member of parliament for the Republican People's Party (CHP), announced her resignation from the party in a post on her social media account following Özgür Özel's statements.

Following the speech Özgür Özel made at the group meeting, the first person to bid farewell to the CHP was CHP İzmir MP Murat Bakan, while other party members also initiated procedures to resign from the CHP.
