The Ministry of National Defense (MSB) announced that Infantry Specialist Sergeant Mesut Karadağ, who was serving in the Operation Claw-Lock region, was martyred after being struck by lightning.
In a written statement issued by the Ministry, it was stated: "Our heroic comrade-in-arms, Infantry Specialist Sergeant Mesut Karadağ, who was serving in the Operation Claw-Lock region, was martyred on May 14, 2025, as a result of a lightning strike. We wish God's mercy upon our dear martyr who lost his life in this incident that has plunged us into deep pain and sorrow, and we extend our condolences and patience to his grieving family, the Turkish Armed Forces, and our noble nation."
