Şahan Gökbakar makes a referee reference to Özgür Özel's 'red card'

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, who continues his nationwide tours, made Mersin his latest stop.

In statements made earlier in the day, Özel had announced that they would reveal a big surprise at 3:00 PM.

Starting his speech in Mersin at 3:35 PM, Özel announced his big surprise on stage.

RED CARD

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel recalled President Erdoğan's call to boycott businesses charging exorbitant prices and drew attention to the results of the March 31 local elections. Continuing his remarks, Özel stated that citizens had shown a yellow card to the government in the March 31 local elections, and then proceeded to show a red card to the government.

"KEEP A RED CARD IN YOUR POCKET"

"I invite retirees and minimum wage earners to show a red card to this government. These cards in your hands are the hope of Turkey," said Özel, who then added the following:

Retirees, are you ready to keep a red card in your pocket all across Turkey from now on, and as long as you endure these low salaries and witness this oppression, are you ready to show these red cards to the government until it is gone?

ŞAHAN GÖKBAKAR'S REFEREE REFERENCE

Following Özel's 'red card' statement, notable comments came from many quarters.

One of these came from comedian Şahan Gökbakar.

Sharing on his social media account, Gökbakar made a reference to foreign referees regarding Özel.

"I DEMAND A FOREIGN REFEREE BE APPOINTED"

In his post on the X platform, Şahan Gökbakar used the following expressions:

I demand that a foreign referee be appointed in place of Özgür Özel as well.

Furthermore, Gökbakar included a photo of Özgür Özel holding up a red card in his post.
