It was determined that the salary of Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer, who was removed from his post after being arrested and replaced by a trustee, was not paid despite the legal requirement to do so. During the process in which he was removed from his office and Can Aksoy was appointed as trustee in his place, the obligation to pay two-thirds of Özer's salary, as required by law, had not been fulfilled.
According to a report by Cumhuriyet, Özer, who applied to the court through his lawyers regarding the matter, won the case following the judicial proceedings. It was reported in the statement that the court ruled for the payment of the delayed salary.
Ahmet Özer was released in November 2025. It had emerged that the trustee administration did not make the salary payment even after his detention ended. At the end of the legal process, the court found Özer's request regarding this matter to be justified and ruled that the unpaid salary be paid to him.
