Same Ali Yerlikaya, different post: The 'PKK' detail that drew attention in the Aybüke Teacher commemoration

Music teacher Şenay Aybüke Yalçın, who was martyred in an armed attack carried out by PKK terrorists in the Kozluk district of Batman in 2017, is being commemorated on the eighth anniversary of her passing. One of the figures who published a commemoration message was Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya. However, Yerlikaya's post brought another debate to the agenda.

Eight years have passed since the death of music teacher Şenay Aybüke Yalçın, who was heavily wounded by a bullet that struck her body during an attack carried out by the PKK on the Mayor's vehicle in Kozluk on June 9, 2017, after she had delivered report cards to her students, and who later lost her life.

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya made a commemoration post on his social media account this year, just as he did last year. However, this time, the post made by Minister Yerlikaya sparked a different debate.

Observant social media users compared Yerlikaya's words this year with the sentences in his post from last year. While Minister Yerlikaya's post last year included the sentence, "She was martyred by terrorists in a treacherous attack," his post this year was criticized for containing much softer expressions.

In his post, Yerlikaya used the phrases, "8 years have passed since her martyrdom." Minister Yerlikaya, who did not mention at all how Aybüke Yalçın was killed, was showered with criticism on social media. It was noted that the difference between the posts was observed precisely during a period when a 'solution table' with the PKK is being discussed.
