Former AKP deputy Şamil Tayyar made striking statements regarding the DEM Party during a live broadcast he attended. Tayyar stated that the party is maintaining an attitude that challenges social sensitivities.

Emphasizing that the DEM Party should "take on a mediating mission," Tayyar said, "Instead of calming society, they are increasing the tension." The former deputy stated that party officials should be careful with the language they use.

Tayyar specifically addressed the remarks of DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan, who said, "Kurds get high scores in the KPSS but are not appointed. The problem is not an ethnic one; it is a matter of nepotism. Saying 'Kurd' is dynamiting this solution process," and said that these expressions could damage social peace.

Stating that "DEM is playing with nerve endings," Tayyar noted that such statements create a wave of anger in society.

Tayyar had previously expressed similar criticisms in a post on his social media account. In that post, he had used the expressions, "The biggest obstacle to the solution process is DEM. Every day, one of its representatives plays with the society's nerve endings. They are whipping up a wave of anger."
