A notable proposal regarding the renaming of Erzincan has been brought to the agenda of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. CHP Erzincan Deputy Mustafa Sarıgül, in his speech, requested that the name "Can Erzincan" be legally adopted.
Taking the floor at the General Assembly, Sarıgül touched upon the importance of city branding and made the following statement:
“If a city becomes a brand, it gains significant power. When I travel around Can Erzincan, I see that all citizens, regardless of their political party, are waiting for such good news to come out of parliament. I have written the legislative proposal and submitted it to our group. I hope our group will view it positively, and I earnestly request that the name 'Can Erzincan' be officially registered by this august parliament. It is an important expectation of all people from Erzincan. May you have many who love you and many you love; may a part of you be from Erzincan.”
